“The Ben-Com Report – Issue #54”

September 26th, 2008

In the waning days of summer it is always a joy to see the multi-hued panorama that Mother Nature has to offer in the palette that is the foliage of the area around us. Its beauty reminds us that there is wonder in everything, if we only take the time to look for it. Life is just like that also. In the things that happen to us we often focus so much on what we believe is the terrible situation before us that we miss the beauty or opportunity placed before us. As Weymouth puts it “whatever is true, whatever wins respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovable, whatever is of good repute–if there is any virtue or anything deemed worthy of praise–cherish the thought of these things.” We hope you find the beauty in the world around you!!!

In this issue you will find the following topics discussed:

• Introduction
• Teddy Pieper
• Wawasee Plaza News
• Crunch Time
• Security Issues

1. Teddy Pieper

As the years have progressed Benson has seen a lot of talented employees come and go. We are happy to inform you that Benson is welcoming back one of its own. After attending college in Florida, previous Benson employee Teddy Pieper will be rejoining Benson’s graphics team. If you remember Teddy from before he left, or you’ve never heard of him, feel free to welcome him if you see him around Benson. If not you can just admire his work on the websites, photos, and movies he will be creating.

2. Wawasee Plaza News

Benson has been happy to see the going forward of Wawasee Plaza, the building we are tenants in. Creative Marketing recently occupied the space directly behind us, and has been producing some amazing things. They make everything from corporate gifts to employee attire. There has also been a lot of work done over in the old Key Bank area preparing it for office space. Hopefully we’ll see even more successful business’s move into the building.

3. Crunch Time

Everyone has been talking about the economic crisis as of late. Not even the presidential election coming up could keep the attention of the media. So why is the government wanting to bail out the economy to the tune of $700 billion? We won’t answer that question for you, but we will tell you what we would do with $700 billion.

1. Speed up renovations on Wawasee Plaza, and put in that water fountain.

2. Install a training center so we could have computer classes available to the local community

3. Buy a fleet of fuel-efficient company cars to reduce the cost of going onsite both for our customers and us

4. Install wind and solar generators to cut electric costs

5. Invest some of that pocket change for retirement

Of course we can’t tell you what else we’d do with all the left over money, but you can expect at least a few of these things on the list to become a reality, and no not the fleet of corporate vehicles.

What would you do with $700 billion? Let us know by email.

4. Security Issues

Over the past few weeks we have encountered several instances of viruses. We would like to take a brief amount of time to share some security tips to dealing with viruses.

1. Keep your anti-virus up to date

2. Avoid clicking links on pages you don’t know

3. Don’t open emails from people you don’t know

4. If you do happen to get a virus keep your computer off the Internet until the virus is completely removed, for high-speed this will require disconnecting the network capable

We have had a rash of computers brought in suffering from total collapse from the dreaded Hallmark Card virus. The email reads just like you have received a Hallmark card via email. This card, however, when opened up will shut y0our computer right down. Check out www.truthorfiction.com/ to find out how to protect yourself from this crippling computer virus.
