Benson Com Report – Issue 53
In the waning days of Summer it is always a joy to see the multi-hued panorama that mother nature has to offer in the pallete that is the foliage of the area around us. Its beauty reminds us that there is wonder in everything, if we only take the time to look for it. Life is just like that also. In the things that happen to us we often focus so much on the what we believe is the terrible situation before us that we miss the beauty or opportunity placed before us. As Weymouth puts it “whatever is true, whatever wins respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovable, whatever is of good repute–if there is any virtue or anything deemed worthy of praise–cherish the thought of these things.” We hope you find the beauty in the world around you!!!
In this issue you will find the following topics discussed:
• Introduction
• Samuel Patrick
• Personnel Matters
• Tech News
• Hallmark Card Virus
1. Chris Frank
Benson Commuications welcomes Chris Frank, BS, Computer sciences to its staff. Chris was met at the front door with a great challenge and has stepped up to meet it squarely. With the starting back of school and with business expansion in the Syracuse area, Benson has been busy with our customer demands for new computer projects and installations. Not only are the demands for computer products increasing at a level not seen for five years, but there is an increased demand for IT systems support. Many in the community are finding it a more cost beneficial practice to enlist Benson for their IT support than to hire personnel to their own staff. Chris is working hard to insure that we can deliver on these needs. When you see Chris and, if you can catch him standing still long enough, be sure to say “hello.”
2. Personnel Matters
Donald Simmons, MA, BA, Office Manager for Benson Communications has announced his resignation from the company. He will be joining another company in town that specializes in the delivery of home health care support services for children with disabilities. For Don, this was a difficult decision to make. :I have been with Benson for 1 ½ years now and have grown to enjoy the people we serve and those I work with. They have become my family away from home.” We understand that Don is driven by a desire to help people and that he is going where he can make a difference.
3. Tech News
In today’s modern computer world many people are worried about having their identity stolen over the internet. However, what most people don’t realize is that the largest risk for identity theft is not through their computer but by the credit cards they carry. Using special readers, hackers can read information off your credit card, passport, or id badge and can also access your personal information via your cell phone through Bluetooth® capabilities. The good news is the probability of someone having this equipment and using it against you is slim to none, but a risk you should be aware of.
